Hello Suzette. Glad to hear all went well with the surgery. You are are in the best hands at COH. Been thinking about you and the process all week. My family will continue to keep you in our prayers. It has been hard to not reach out to personally when I first heard, but I respected the request made. I know you are strong and your internal chi will work its magic. Stay strong and our positive ki energy to you! Love you and God Bless.

Hello Suzette. At the dojo today to train. Strange not see you there. Seemed different to not see a old friend on the mat with her Tai Chi friends, and the welcome smile. Aikido Ai misses its corner stone but we all know you are there. When time is quiet here, I think about how you are doing and praying the recovery continues on its path. Glad see from your updates that all is progressing. I did agree with your sense of irony, that while heavy rest is emphasized by the doctors they contradict it with the need to set up your appointment in such a rapid time. I guess they know best how to handle this. I wish you continued and quick recovery and return to the quiet life you enjoyed.

I had no idea. I will continue to send loving energy to you, and would like to give you Reiki sessions whenever possible, let me know. The ladies and even Ed have asked about you and send their love & thoughts. You are a bright light of powerful love & energy, I see you with a light of blessed energy around you, keep on visualizing and spend time in your zen place, giving yourself as much love as you give us each time you visited. You are blessed, and so are we for knowing you. We love you dearly. Tammy

Dear Suzette: I was up on the mountain on Saturday, (drove up with Spencer, Cynthia and Laura) and wanted to share some of the highs and lows. Highs: Seeing our old friends. It was especially great seeing our friend Teja-it had been too long. And how special to spend time with our dear dojo/and zen people. Highs: Taiko! Chris had the idea for us (Chris, Cynthia and me) to do a short demonstration. We set up three drums in the firepit and played to a small but supportive group for about five minutes. We were far from perfect, but the sound of the drums under the trees and the big sky was spectacular. Highs: Seriously perfect weather. The sky was blue, the temperature was warm with a slight breeze. Highs: Sharing our enthusiasm for the fan form with new students. It was great to hear the sound of the fans opening in the low ceiling dojo. Highs: Seeing a bear! A baby bear came near the dining hall – a few of us got great photos. And fortunately no one (and none of our food) was eaten. Lows: There was only one. Not seeing you there. Although Cynthia and I found you all over. In a lone, perfectly formed pinecone hung low over the firepit. In a single beautiful yellow wild flower waving from the path. In memories of fun times together. I look forward to next year when Cynthia, Spencer, Sensei and I (and certainly many others) have already committed to walking to the waterfall with you. Love you, Meg

Hi Suzette. I brought you home some aloha from the beautiful garden isle of Kauai. I thought of you as I practiced my balance and rooting, trying to step very carefully and deliberately on a slippery, muddy trail. (This was after I had failed miserably - or my shoes had - on a slick wet rock, with my tailbone paying the price!)

Dear Suzette: What a busy ten days you have had! And what a busy schedule each day ahead holds. May you have lots of healing and coping energy. And here are some inspirational thoughts. Joan Borysenko: "May I be at peace. may my heart remain open. May I awaken to the light of my own true nature. May I be healed.May I be a source of healing for all beings." From Sally Lowe Whitehead, "The Path of Grace": "A woman's path need not always take her many miles from home. It will, however, always invite her to let go of where she's already been, and to open to the Mystery of where she's going. Grace will be her guide and will ask her to trust in her own wisdom. In this way, a woman's path will invariably lead her back to her true self, and no path is ever more valuable than this."

Your strength and calm continue to inspire us all. I will be sending you healing thoughts tomorrow for your eye surgery. You are surrounded by love and light from the many friends whose lives you have touched. Step by step, you are being healed. Your appointment schedule sounds very hectic. I hope you find some time rest and relax in your garden, listen to the birds, and enjoy an avocado.

Hi, Suzette! It's two weeks after the retreat at Mt. Baldy. Wait till you see how ideas from instructors and participants have helped us shape next year's schedule and activities. One thing we have done is start a Facebook page dedicated to the Mt. Baldy Retreat.

Dear Suzette: Today is the first day that one of your sunflowers has fully opened. It is a volunteer one, probably from scattered bird seed. But it's loving our weather here-tomorrow it's supposed to be 101! May this week bring you new strength and healing as you begin chemo and radiation, plus o.t. and p.t. I will have Matt help me try to send you a photo of the sunflower later this week. Much love, Lynn and Larry (gone backpacking).

I love reading your update. I love seeing your backyard and glad that you have such a sweet sanctuary. When I had chemo I would listen to my healing audio tapes. When I was lucky, they'd give me something that would lead me to slumber and deep relaxation. I am glad you are such a strong woman! You give me strength and smiles.

Wondering how the radiation treatments are going....there was no physiscal feeling when I had my radiaton. For you, perhaps the position is painful just because of your surgeries....the fatigue...not sure when it sets in. Just the daily trips, PT and OT must be tiring though. Thinking about you a lot today (every day!) knowing that tomorrow is chemo day. Picturing the liquid "gold" absorbing cancer cells...I delighted in seeing the picture of your garden and of Hotei with his arms in the air....a great reminder to me also that "all is well". I love you and will be praying that all goes smoothly tomorrow. THANK YOU AGAIN for keeping us posted and for enduring this journey. You are phenomenal! Love, Joan

Buenos Dias mi Amiga :) By now you have had your first week of treatments and phase 2 of project Heal Suzi is in full effect. Side effects are hopefully minimal (or non-existent!) and rest plentiful. Thinking of you recovering in your backyard sanctuary, surrounded by Hotei, birds and other critters, of course lots of avocados around your feet :)healthy, glowing, as the golden nectar transforms your body. Oh, I just signed up for an advanced oncology massage workshop thru the spa, whenever you are ready my friend, all you have to do is ask 💜 In the meantime, sending you reiki, healing,- all illnesses disappear NOW!- and of course all my love and support :)

Hi Suzette, We miss you. Peggy is doing a fine job of keeping us on course and expediting things along, but the entire Friday morning enterprise is more than a little hollow without you there. Okay, now that I've made you feel sufficiently guilty for having the temerity for going and getting sick on us, I'll give you a little update: Two new males! John, Brian, and I are hopeful they'll stick. They both wrote pieces last week. Good stuff too. Miss you.
